Committee for CPSP Chapter Life by Perry Miller
Since its conception the Governing Councils Committee for Chapter Life has provided consultation and support for some of our chapter conveners as well as a consultative face-to-face intervention for an entire chapter struggling with very critical issues within their community.
This activity with some of our chapters reminds me again the value and even the power of consultation.
We want the CPSP Community to keep in mind the following:
Mission: The central mission of the Committee for Chapter Life will be to support, guide, and resource CPSP Chapters in behalf of the Governing Council, not to police Chapters.CPSP Chapters are endowed with great autonomy. Within their sphere of activity is the challenge for genuine community, and the accountability for its quality of its life together and the quality of the clinical practice of its members. We believe Chapter life is the heart and soul of the CPSP community. Why: CPSP Chapter life is the most distinctive and critical element of the CPSP community. Chapter life for CPSP is the heart and soul of who we are and what we strive to become. It is where the CPSP Covenant is lived out in flesh and blood within the milieu of human engagement. If Chapter life in the community falters, CPSP will have failed and recovery of soul will become an empty phrase. Given our growth in membership, the quality of Chapter life must be insured by CPSP being intentional and proactive in order to further advance the quality of Chapter Life.
Nuts and Bolts:Central to the task of the Committee on Chapter life will be to function as a think-tank providing thoughtful and creative attention to CPSP Chapter life.
Function as the primary contact and consultative resource for start-up Chapters.
Provide consultation and support for Chapters facing difficult issues.
Offer innovative ways for Chapters to consider how they might effectively function as a Chapter between face-to-face meetings of the Chapter using current technology and the Internet.
Assist Chapters to value their unique story and to encourage, when appropriate, sharing these often powerful stores with the CPSP community.
As members of the CPSPs Governing Councils Committee for Chapter Life we want to be of help to Chapters and their Conveners. Please feel free to contact any member of the committee:
