ALBERT'S HISTORIC FIRST GAY MARRIAGE IN BOSTON

Although the year is 1973, Rev. Bill Alberts, a CPSP Diplomate, was involved in what is now a very contemporary issue as he faced the dilemma to perform the marriage of a gay couple who were his parishioners. The Boston Phoenix recently published this fascinating story:

...It didnt take long for Alberts to make a decision. He thought about his role as minister. About his duty to care for parishioners as Jesus had the same Jesus who said "Love thy neighbor," the same Jesus who set the oppressed free. To him, performing a gay wedding seemed consistent with his ministry. "So," he says, "I said, Yes!"...
